ACTIVE FIRE PROTECTION

Active Fire Protection is the set of means, equipment and systems installed to warn about a fire and prevent it from spreading, avoiding the loss and damage of human and property produced by the fire. These are mainly activities aimed at extinguishing the fire and which require manual or automatic detection in order to operate.

Active fire protection consists of:

  • Detection and Alarm: the fire is detected by smoke, flame and heat detectors. These systems emit an alert signal, which allows the emergency evacuation of the environments concerned by a fire.
  • Fire suppression: this category includes all activities whose objective is to extinguish the fire by direct action.

Passive fire protection covers all materials, systems and techniques designed to prevent the occurrence of a fire, to prevent or delay its spread and to facilitate its extinguishing.
